The combination of shock wins and expected losses have closed the gap at the bottom of the Premier League table, which have been reflected in the BSports relegation projections.
Bottom club Sunderland won 1-0 at Everton thanks to a Ki Sung-Yueng penalty after Tim Howard’s dismissal; a late Dwight Gayle goal gave Crystal Palace a 1-0 win at Aston Villa; and Fulham beat Norwich 2-1 at Carrow Road – coming back from a goal down to win thanks to Pajtim Kasami and Scott Parker. The wins have had a big effect on the projections for all three clubs – reducing the chances of relegation for all three clubs by more than 10%:

Crystal Palace’s relegation odds are closing in on their lowest of the season – with both the Eagles and Sunderland really closing the gap on the sides above them after the Boxing Day round of fixtures. The biggest losers of the day were Cardiff (losing 3-0 at home against Southampton), West Ham (after their expected defeat against Arsenal) and Norwich – all seeing their odds of relegation dropping by more than 5%.
